Cabernet Sauvignon 2002
First Vintage from Via Vega Vineyard
Tasting notes
It always holds that Cabernet Sauvignon is King. Don't know why, but we all have a lot of years that Cabernet had something to do with the memories that stand tall. This wine holds it's own. A bit intense, the wine was aged in thin staved French oak barrels. That keeps the wine breathing because thin staves move more air through the wine. This helped tame the tannins and round out the palate. The story of Via Vega Cabernet is the small berries; small berries tighten up the ratio of juice to skin per berry and can make a mouthful of wine. Barrel tactics play big in the shaping of this varietal.. Black fruit flavors and hints of really ripe plums are integrated in the supple texture of this wine. The sensation on the palate is luxurious and layered with flavors of licorice and berries with a finish of round tannins and pleasant oak aromas. The wine will complement the brave sauces of your cooking, and will pair well with the fare from your grill.
